HAS SCIENCE DISCOVERED GOD ? (submitted by Joe Rogers )

Many scientists today are willing to concede that many recent discoveries point more to a specific “designer” as the cause agent rather than random or natural causes. Many of the scientists involved with these discoveries are coming to this provocative conclusion independent of any religious presuppositions they may have including atheism. These fascinating discoveries have come from primarily three separate fields of science; quantum mechanics, molecular biology, and astronomy. Each field is completely independent from any unified design paradigm. Yet many are starting to connect all the dots. When you step back to look at the big picture, you can better understand why scientists are making some of the following comments.

Astronomer George Greenstein: “As we survey all the evidence, the thought insistently arises that some supernatural agency-or, rather, Agency-must be involved. Is it possible that suddenly, without intending to, we have stumbled upon scientific proof of the existence of a Supreme Being? Was it God who stepped in and so providentially crafted the cosmos for our benefit?” Arno Penzias (Nobel prize in physics): “Astronomy leads us to a unique event, a universe which was created out of nothing, one with the very delicate balance needed to provide exactly the conditions required to permit life, and one which has an underlying (one might say supernatural) plan.” Astronomer Fred Hoyle: A common sense interpretation of the facts suggests that a super-intellect has monkeyed with physics, as well as with chemistry and biology, and that there are no blind forces worth speaking about in nature. The numbers one calculates from the facts seem to me so overwhelming as to put this conclusion almost beyond question.” Stephen Hawking: “In fact a universe like ours is actually quite unlikely……..the odds against a universe that has produced life like ours are immense.” Cosmologist Ed Harrison: “The fine-tuning of the universe provides prima facie evidence of deistic design. Take your choice: blind chance that requires multitudes of universes or design that requires only one. Many scientists, when they admit their views, incline toward the Teleological or design argument.” Come join us and discover what specific discoveries are causing a revolution of sorts in the world of science. Bring all your questions along with an open mind. Let us journey together and discus what impact if any these discoveries bring to our world view and our personal lives.
